Together, we can ensure a safe and successful experience at Security + Defence

SPIE Security + Defence will safely bring the community together this September. We invite you to join your peers in Madrid and reconnect with your community. Read how we plan to gather safely.

SPIE and our event partners aim to provide the safest event possible for all attendees. Together, we can ensure everyone’s safety and comfort as we reconnect in a reopened world. All event participants are expected to understand and follow the simple safe-event requirements.

We know that travelling and attending a conference under the current conditions will be a different experience for everyone. SPIE will do our part to ensure your health and safety while attending the conference. Please remember to take care of yourself and take the necessary precautions to keep everyone safe.

Letter from SPIE: A return to gathering

What is SPIE and its partners doing to keep you safe?

We are following local mandates and event-management guidance in place in Madrid:

  • Requiring mask or face coverings as required by local officials
  • Implementing sanitation measures throughout the event
    • Including frequent cleaning/disinfecting
  • Providing a low-touch registration check-in process with protective plexiglass at stations
  • Rearranging the exhibition floor plan to allow additional space between booths
  • Implementing room capacity rules and alternative options to view presentations when rooms reach 60% seating capacity
  • All SPIE staff on site will be fully vaccinated
  • Masks and hand sanitizers provided free upon request.

Keep everyone safe!

  • Wear your mask
  • Wash your hands
  • Respect social distancing
  • Do not attend if not feeling well
