The Wide Field Imager for the NewAthena mission: preliminary design and verification

17 June 2024 • 17:30 - 19:00 Japan Standard Time | Room G5, North - 1F

Abstract

The Wide Field Imager (WFI) is one of two complementary focal plane cameras on ESA’s X-ray observatory NewAthena, whose launch is planned for 2037. This paper presents the preliminary design of the instrument based on its structural, thermal, and functional requirements, together with its numerical and experimental verification.
