Deep UV Raman spectroscopy for biosensing (Invited Paper)

19 August 2024 • 4:00 PM - 4:30 PM PDT

Abstract

Deep UV Raman spectroscopy is an extremely powerful technique for biosensing. Recently we advanced our photonic setup (laser techniques, optical hollow core fibers, etc.) for highly sensitive and selective monitoring of antibiotics in body fluids and the investigation of antimalarial active agents. We are also working of highly frequency resolved deep UV Raman spectroscopic techniques for the investigation of weak biomolecular interactions.

Torsten is full professor at the technical university Darmstadt, Germany, and holds a chair for biophotonics and biomedical engineering. He is interested in the development of photonic techniques for life science application. This involves flexible and miniaturized instrumentation for Raman spectroscopy, UV resonance Raman, drug monitoring, fiber sensing, analysis of drug-target interactions, hyperspectral chemical imaging, multifocal spectroscopy, biomedical and pharmaceutical spectroscopy.
