Profile Summary

Current assistant Professor of department of Biomedical Engineering and School of Medicine at Wayne State University, was a postdoctoral-fellow at Washington University in St. Louis. Completed his Ph.D. at University of Kent as an outstanding postgraduate student. Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees with honors in electronics engineering. As a faculty member, awarded the “Best Lecturer Award“ at Azad University of Karaj for excellence in teaching higher education. Holds his Post Graduate Certificate for Higher Education master’s degree in higher education teaching from the University of Kent. Areas of expertise include, but are not limited to, biomedical imaging, signal/image processing, design/implementation of optical coherence tomography (supervised/trained by Professor Adrian Podoleanu, the world’s leader in OCT), and photoacoustic imaging technology (supervised/trained by Professor Lihong Wang, a pioneer in photoacoustic technology). Published numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as PNAS, Applied Optics, IEEE PTL, NeuroImage, Biomedical Optics, Optics Letter, and Modern Optics. Presented at several conferences across the globe, such as MICCAI, MIUA, MVIP, as well as Photonics West. Peer-reviewer for PLOS ONE, MICCAI, Applied Optics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, and Journal of Biomedical Optics. Served as a member of the technical program committee for the IEEE ICIP, ICACCI and MICCAI for the past few years. Bilingual, near native fluency in English and native speaker of Farsi. Excellent technical communication skills, and also an acclaimed karate competitor, coach, and international referee, with more than 14 international athletic medals in various competitions across the world, Europe, and the United States.
