Profile Summary

Blake R. Klyen is a PhD candidate Optical+Biomedical Engineering Laboratory (OBEL) at The University of Western Australia. Blake received his Bachelor of Science (Physiology/Neuroscience) in 2003 and his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronic) in 2005 from The University of Western Australia. His research project involves the investigation of optical coherence tomography (OCT) for the assessment of muscle pathology. This work is a collaborative effort with researchers from the School of Anatomy and Human Biology at UWA, to develop new tools for small-animal imaging, specifically to deepen basic research into the human disease Duchenne muscular dystrophy and its treatment. Blake's work has involved the engineering design of a diagnostic imaging system, animal handling, small-animal imaging studies, and development of analysis methods to validating this new technique.
