Profile Summary

Currently, Dr. Tien Nguyen serves as a Sr. Project Leader and has held many technical and management positions at Aerospace Corporation, including Deputy Chief System Architect, Sr. Project Engineer, Principal Technical Staff, Sr. Engineering Specialist, Associate Director, Interim-Director, and Section Manager. Concurrently, he also serves as an Adjunct Research Professor at California State University in Fullerton (CSUF). Prior to this, he was a Research Assistant Professor at The Catholic University of America. From 2004-2014, he was with Raytheon and served as Engineering Fellow, Technical Director, Chief Engineer, and Program Area Chief Engineer. From 2014 to 2015, he was with Intelligent Fusion Technology and served as a Technical Advisor for the CTO. From 1985 – 1996, he was a NASA representative for Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS). Many of his works became CCSDS standards. He received his Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Claremont Graduate University (CGU) and several master degrees in mathematics, EM field, communications systems theory, and digital signal processing from CGU, CSUF, and CSU in Long Beach. He has published more than 250 papers and held 17 patents with one pending. He has received numerous awards, notably, 3 NASA honor and 22 NASA TechBrief innovation awards; 2 Raytheon innovation awards; 2022 Aerospace Corporation award for growth in our value award, and 3 Division awards along with numerous performance awards for his distinguished technological advancement achievements. Additionally, he received 3 IEEE awards for valuable contributions to technical program and session chairs. He edited four books on satellite systems, systems-of-systems design-and-simulation, decision science, and program management. Currently, he serves as a book Editor for Decision Support Systems and Tools. He is also a visiting scholar and serving as the chairman of the advisory board at the CSUF-Center of Computational and Applied Mathematics.
