Justine Haupt is a developer of astronomy instrumentation at Brookhaven National Laboratory. She was a primarily contributor to the sensor development effort for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, for which she designed many of the electro-optical test stands. She is currently a co-PI for the Baryon Mapping Experiment (a 4-dish 21cm cosmology demonstrator telescope) and PI of a technology maturation program for a previous invention relating to the LSST. Her competencies span optical, mechanical, and RF engineering.
She sits on the board of directors of the Custer Observatory in Southold, NY where she serves as the radio astronomy chair, and is actively engaged in astronomy and STEM outreach.
Justine was named the 2014 Rising Engineering Star by Mouser Electronics and Design News Magazine.
