Profile Summary

Dr. Nirmal Mazumder, has been working on development of various optical microscopy techniques. He pursued my one year M.Sc. research project (2009) with a team consists of physicists and biologist at Tezpur University, Assam, India. During his Ph.D. (2009-2013), he was working in the field of Biophotonics where he learnt about various advanced optical microscopy techniques. He had a great opportunity to work with the scientists from National Research Council, Ottowa, Canada and Imperial College of London, UK. He developed a Stokes vector based second harmonic generation polarization microscopy for molecular imaging, integration of fluorescence lifetime Imaging (FLIM) with coherent anti-Stokes Raman Scattering (CARS) microscopy for studying cellular imaging. He was working as a research associate at W.M. Keck center for cellular imaging, University of Virginia, USA for one year postdoctoral training (2013-2014). During the time he got the opportunity to work with many researchers in different optical systems such as confocal laser scanning microscopy, two-photon fluorescence lifetime imaging microcopy, high harmonic generation microscopy. During his second post-doctoral training at Italian Institute of Technology, Genoa, Italy (2014-2016), he developed an adaptive optics based two photon fluorescence microscopy for in-vivo cortex imaging. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor at Department of Biophysics, School of Life Science, MAHE, Manipal, Karnataka, India. I was the chapter president during 2013-2014 at National Yang Ming University, Taipei. I have participated a few OSA meetings such as ASPC 2013(Osaka University), FiO 2013. Currently, I am the chapter adviser of Manipal OSA student chapter.
