I retired from full-time employment in 2014. I am currently consulting on a part-time basis for several high tech companies, universities, and government agencies. I am active in SPIE as a Fellow and as a conference chairman for 2 annual SPIE conferences ("Sensor and C3I Technologies for Homeland Security, Defense, and Law Enforcement Applications" held at DSS every year in April in Baltimore, MD and "Unmanned/Unattended Sensors and Sensor Networks" held at DSS Europe every year in September in different European cities).
Prior to retiring, I worked about 8 years as an engineer for General Dynamics and about 39 years for several federal government organizations (4 years in the military, 12 years as an engineer and engineering manager for the Department of Navy and 23 years as a Program Manager for the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Since retiring from DARPA in 2012, I worked as a Vice President for General Atomics in 2012 and 2013 and as a consultant for several high tech companies and universities from 2012 to present. I remain available for part-time consulting through EMC Consulting, LLC.
