SPIE Journal Club at Texas A&M University

At Texas A&M University, the SPIE student chapter hosts weekly or bi-weekly journal club meetings. A graduate student, or an undergraduate student with a graduate mentor, chooses a recently published scientific paper that is related to optics or their personal research. During the presentation students critically discuss the paper, and generally get into deeper discussions about the basic science and statistical analyses used in the paper. Not only does this event keep their society members up to date with the world of optics, it also helps students practice presentations skills and read published work with respectful skepticism. Great job Texas A&M!
