Alexei Glebov
President, Florida Photonics Cluster (United States)
President and General Manager, Optigrate Corporation--IPG Photonics (United States)

Alexei Glebov is President and General Manager of OptiGrate Corp, an IPG Photonics Company. In 2008, Alexei joined OptiGrate Corp in Orlando, FL, as CEO and President. Under Alexei’s leadership the company became a prominent optical component manufacturer with more than 600 customers on 6 continents. In 2017, IPG Photonics, the market leader in high power fiber lasers, acquired OptiGrate Corp. Alexei holds more than 30 U.S. patents and has over 100 publications in technical books, journals, and conference proceedings. Alexei is a Fellow of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics; he serves on the Board of Directors of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Research Consortium, as well as on the Industrial Advisory Boards of the School of Materials Science and Engineering and School of Optics at the University of Central Florida.

From semiconductor mask writing to quantum illumination: new applications in acousto-optics

Chris Corey

Chris Corey
Senior Optomechanical Engineer
L3Harris Technologies, Inc. (United States)

L3Harris has been designing, developing, and fabricating acousto-optic devices for over forty years. An industry leader in the field, we specialize in high performance, high channel count devices in the UV spectrum. Since roughly 1990, we have provided multi-channel acousto-optic modulators to the semiconductor industry for use in mask-writing equipment. As a part of our push to enter the quantum market we have, with the help of university and industry partners, adapted our devices for individual ion addressing in quantum computing. This has opened the door to new markets and has spurred a surge in R&D surrounding our acousto-optic devices.

Chris Corey is a senior optomechanical engineer at L3Harris Technologies with 18 years of experience supporting telecommunication and acousto-optic systems. His talk will center on the emergence of quantum computing as a new market for acousto-optic modulators and deflectors.

Free space optical communications at Jenoptik

Jay Kumler

Jay Kumler
CEO
Jenoptik Optical Systems LLC (United States)

JENOPTIK has been designing and manufacturing laser rangefinders for more than 20 years and has accumulated significant expertise in serial production. These products offer the lowest SWaP (size, weight and power) while maintaining range accuracy and stability over wide operating temperature ranges. Free space optical communications is becoming an increasingly important modality for wireless transmission of high speed communications. JENOPTIK has applied our expertise in laser rangefinders to new products in FSOC. We will present recent relevant examples of space-based and terrestrial FSOC systems and describe some of the technical and manufacturing challenges that present when scaling the operations for serial production.

Jay Kumler holds a B.S. Physics from Miami University and a M.S. Optics from the University of Rochester. Following several years with United Technologies Optical Systems, he co-founded and served as President of Coastal Optical Systems, which was acquired by JENOPTIK AG in 2002. Since 2002, he has served as President of JENOPTIK Optical Systems. JENOPTIK has manufacturing plants on three continents that design and manufacture semiconductor inspection equipment, optical systems for diagnostic instruments, fire control systems, and inspection equipment for consumer electronics. Jay now serves as the President of Jenoptik North America, and is a member of the JENOPTIK AG Executive Management Committee. Jay is an SPIE Fellow and served on the SPIE board of directors. He serves as founding sponsor for the SPIE Startup Challenge and is also on the advisory board of the Luminate Accelerator. He has published 20 technical papers, book chapters and patents.

Laser diode pump systems with ultra-high spectral brightness

Aleksandr I. Ryasnyanskiy

Aleksandr I. Ryasnyanskiy
Director of Lasers
OptiGrate Corp. (United States)

The high power laser systems with unique capabilities of both wavelength and linewidth tuning for Alkali metal atoms and noble gases pumping was developed. Delivering up to 200 W of narrowband radiation (<15 GHz) the system allows up to 400 pm wavelength tuning capabilities with a linewidth tuning in the range 20-150 pm. The laser systems family covers D1 and D2 atomic lines of K (766 nm and 770 nm), Cs (852 nm and 895 nm), Rb (780 nm and 795 nm) and Ar/Kr (~811 nm) and Xe (~905 nm) transitions.

Aleksandr Ryasnyanskiy is a manager of laser division at OptiGrate Corp. His research interest includes development of narrowband laser systems for different photonics applications.
