My passion and curiosity for science started in elementary school and after-school classes at the local university education center during middle school. Since then, I have enjoyed the continuous learning and development that scientific research and engineering work offers. I always find myself fascinated by discoveries about the world that surrounds us as well as our ability to engineer new and helpful materials and devices.
I recently started an Assistant Professor position in the Chemical Engineering Department at Technion. I teach undergraduate and graduate students and I lead a research group that investigates functional nanostructures. My research aims to understand and develop new materials and structures for membrane and patterning applications and involves nanoscale imaging with an electron microscope.
A challenging aspect of my career is combining an academic career together with raising a family. My three children were born during my PhD studies. Hard work and a supportive spouse and family have helped me. I also must say that although it is challenging, my family is also a source of confidence and energy that I bring with me to my working environment.
I would advise young women not to be afraid of challenges; how we deal with challenges and the decisions we make, define who we are. Remember that we learn all the time, so find what excites you and enjoy the process of learning.
