 My fascination with optics stems from my deep interest in why light interacts with different materials in different ways. With a bachelor's degree in physics and a Ph.D. in optical sciences, I am excited by the opportunity to work in a field of research that impacts a broad range of technologies that touch our lives every day. My work has impacted materials used in optical fiber telecommunications, laser materials, and satellite systems, to name a few. At the University of Arizona, I am fortunate to teach and mentor students and introduce them to this exciting field.
