| Herzl Aharoni |
SPIE Fellow Herzl Aharoni, professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Ben-Gurion University (BGU) of the Negev, has been elected to the rank of Fellow by the European Physical Society (EPS). Fellows of the EPS are elected by the European physics community in recognition of the outstanding individual's contribution to physics.
Aharoni was one of only two EPS Members elected to the rank of Fellow this year. According to his citation, Aharoni was selected "for his groundbreaking contributions and accomplishments in the invention, research, development, and realization of a wide range of practical, cost-effective, efficient, single crystal Silicon Light Emitting Devices and by pioneering a systematic transformation of physics into technology."
Aharoni is a Lifetime Member of SPIE and has presented and published with the Society many times. He became a Fellow of SPIE in 2011 in recognition of his achievements in integrated silicon LEDs, and ITO properties research for ITO/InP solar cells.
