Solving the vergence-accomodation conflict in head mounted displays with a magnifier system

Paper Abstract

In this work we propose a binocular system based on a Galilean telescope used by persons with low-vision. First, a Galilean telescope is designed for a single eye. Then, once the Galilean telescope has been designed with an exit pupil size that matches with the pupil eye, the binocular system is then developed. Since the Galilean telescope is an afocal system, this allows for the eye to be relaxed, so, the use of a Galilean telescope is an option to mitigate the Vergence-Accomodation conflict, because it is a system that magnifies the image. The advantage with the proposed system is that the stereopsis allows an accurate accommodation and vergence.
