Terahertz Time Domain Spectrometer
OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic based products and instruments, now offers a Terahertz Source and Time Domain Spectrometer. Unlike most time-resolved THz spectrometers in the market employing photoconductive antennas, OZ Optics' system utilizes nonlinear propagation in electro-optic crystals together with proprietary phase matching techniques to generate and detect phase-locked THz pulses. The system utilizes a compact femtosecond laser integrated with our pulse compressor to obtain a much higher THz bandwidth than other commercially available THz spectrometers. While most THz systems can only resolve frequencies >3 THz by averaging over numerous waveforms, we achieve this bandwidth in a single trace. Better spectral performances can be obtained with the fast continuous scanning option. Contact OZ Optics for more details.

Super Fast Response Auto Gain Controlled Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier
Conventional Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifiers (EDFA’s) exhibit some degree of non-linear behaviour with respect to wavelength and the amplitude of the signals to be amplified. Moreover, in DWDM transmission systems the adding or dropping of a transmission frequency through an EDFA can introduce transient behavior, where the signal through the amplifier overshoots or undershoots, disrupting data transmission. For conventional EDFAs the transient time period during which over/undershoot occurs is typically about 100 microseconds. Now OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, presents an Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier (EDFA) that features auto-gain control to achieve sub-microsecond transient suppression time with less than ±0.3 dB under/overshoot. The fixed gain of 25 dB is independent of wavelength and the signal strength over C band when the signals to be amplified are within -19 dBm to -11 dBm. This is an improvement in the transient response time of over two orders of magnitude. Designed to be used for traditional C-band wavelengths, this Super Fast EDFA amplifies signals within a 3.2 nm window, enough to amplify four adjacent channels within in a DWDM transmission system. The amplifier can be configured for any 3.2 nm sub-band within the C-band wavelength range. Contact OZ Optics for more details.

High Speed Electro-Optics Polarization Controller-Scrambler
OZ Optics Limited, a world leading supplier of fiber optic products for existing and next-generation optical networks, is expanding the polarization controller-scrambler product family. OZ Optics now offers a high speed Electro-Optics Polarization Controller (EOPC) that provides continuous polarization control in a motionless, compact 14 pin butterfly package. OZ Optics' High Speed Electro-Optic Polarization Controller (EOPC) is based on a novel, low-loss high speed free space Electro-Optic crystal technology. It provides a simple, efficient means to quickly manipulate the state of polarization by applying an external voltage. The device can be offered with 2, 3 or 4 independent channels. The built-in Electro-Optics crystal response time is less than < 10 us with proper external voltage applied. The controller's rapid response speed easily handles changes in polarization caused by the external environment, and is highly suitable for polarization controlling and scrambling to either average Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) and Polarization Dependent Gain (PDG) effects, or for making Polarization Mode Dispersion (PMD), Degree of Polarization (DOP) or PDL measurements. This makes it ideal for precise test and measurement applications. Custom versions for other wavelengths bands, OEM modules with driver electronics and control interface, or stand-alone benchtop test instruments can be produced on demand. Low Cost Universal Optical DNA Rapid Detection System for Pathogens including Covid-19, Sars, Ebola, Cholera, Salmonella, etc. (Lamppy™ Series)
Recognizing the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected everyone’s life, OZ Optics has released a line of products to detect these and similar viruses in individuals. Our flagship product is a Covid-19 detection system, designed to detect fluorescence and color changes from dyes that activate in the presence of specific viral DNA or RNA. The system includes optical sources, filters, detectors and temperature control systems to heat samples to the temperatures needed for Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) reactions, Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR) or similar reactions, and then launch light through samples to detect fluorescence from the viral DNA/RNA. Our patent pending optics improve the signal to noise ratio, allowing us in combination with special Covid-19 LAMP reagent kits (available from OZ Optics), to detect Covid-19 DNA from sample swabs in less than 30 minutes, often within just a few minutes. Initial systems test individual samples, but systems for testing 10 samples and 96 samples simultaneously are in development. This will enable mass testing at the rates needed to provide mass testing of the general population. The system can be adapted to detect other viruses and bacteria by simply changing the reagent kit. The standard system is optimized for fluorescence at green wavelengths, but versions to detect fluorescence at other wavelengths can be provided. Versions with built-in spectrometers are also available to analyze color changes. The system is available at a fraction of the cost of traditional PCR test systems currently in use. “With this system we intend to address the world need for inexpensive testing for Covid-19, which has turned our world upside down”, says CEO Ömür Sezerman. “To help defeat this terrible virus, OZ Optics intends to sell these systems at cost for the first year, so that as many systems as possible can be used by all. We will also donate initial units to governments, hospitals and research labs to perform independent test studies and provide feedback to OZ so we can further improve our system.” In addition to these products, OZ Optics manufactures many products that can be used by research and medical labs to perform fundamental research of Covid-19 and other pathogens. These include the following: A visible/near-infrared spectrometer, which can be used to detect the spectrum from fluorescence dyes and from microbes, animals or plants. U-bracket assemblies designed to work with laboratory cuvettes for spectral analysis of absorption, emission or scattering of light from samples. A variety of fiber optic light sources using either laser or LEDs, to either generate fluorescence or measure absorption. Red/Green/Blue (RGB) sources, to allow one to excite multiple wavelengths for fluorescence microscopy. For complete details visit www.ozoptics.com. Let’s all do our share to overcome COVID
