PG&O® Introduces Re-Polishing Services for Thin-Film Optics
● Unique re-polishing service can salvage fabricated optics that have been damaged or the specs are not met - ideal for dielectric coatings on thin-film substrates. Santa Ana, CA – Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O – www.pgo.com), a global leader in optical manufacturing, precision thin-film coatings, and complete optical solutions, is offering an innovative re-polishing service that can give an optic new life when the original dielectric coating does not meet the specifications or was damaged during the manufacturing process. The company’s unique service of re-polishing substrates provides the optics manufacturer a time- and cost-saving option to replace a coating that is not working properly, while also delivering a highly precise optic that is finished to specifications on substrates up to 24 inches diameter. PG&O’s re-polishing service is subject to the review and approval of each situation and the condition of the actual part. However, it is a viable option for many dielectric coatings when lead time is critical and in instances where the coated part has a slight leeway in thickness. According to Dan Bukaty, Jr., president of PG&O, “We have developed a service that is unique to the thin-film industry. We’re excited to offer this value-added fabrication service – to salvage coated substrates in cases where the original coating doesn’t meet the specs or is in need of repair. This service can potentially add up to tremendous savings in both time and money because the manufacturer can have the new substrate re-polished rather than having to re-manufacture it again from start to finish.” -more- Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O®) – www.pgo.com– PG&O provides complete turnkey optical solutions for operation in the 200 nm – 2500 nm wavelength range. ● Polarizing beamsplitter cube is ideal for laser applications. Santa Ana, CA – Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O – www.pgo.com), a global leader in optical manufacturing, precision thin-film coatings, and complete optical solutions, announces the new polarizing beamsplitter cube that splits up the S & P polarization of light with extinction ratios from Tp/Ts 1000:1 and Rs/Rp 1000:1. PG&O’s specialty beamsplitters are designed to work with lasers and are well-suited for other optical applications. The entrance and exit faces of the cube beamsplitters are carefully coated with anti-reflection (AR) coatings to greatly improve the performance of the cube. With advanced optical coatings from PG&O that operate from 200 nm – 2500 nm, these innovative beamsplitters can be customized to meet the critical specifications of customers. According to President Dan Bukaty, Jr., “With our new capability, our 1000:1 extinction ratios fully maximizes the split between S&P polarization which is an essential factor in many laser tasks. With the new transmission and reflection ratios we elevate our level of proficiency in beamsplitter thin-film coating technology. We’re excited to provide this expanded offering to new and existing customers.” The company’s previously announced 200:1 and the new 1000:1 extinction cube polarizing beamsplitters are both used in applications where two polarization components need to be analyzed, or used simultaneously. PG&O® Introduces Customizable Opal Diffusers
• New opal diffusers are ideal for applications that require extremely uniform white light. Santa Ana, CA – Feb. 27, 2023 – Precision Glass & Optics (PG&O – www.pgo.com), a global leader in optical manufacturing, precision thin-film coatings, and complete optical solutions, introduces Opal Diffusers. The new product is made from opal glass and can be polished to any thickness and/or bonded to any glass substrate. They are fully customizable to any size from 0.059 inches up to approximately 12 inches. Custom opal diffusers are useful in applications in which a very uniform white light is needed and when the customer needs to control the amount of diffusion for a specific task. This can be done by changing the overall thickness of the opal; the size and the shape of the part can also be customized. According to PG&O President Dan Bukaty, Jr., “We are delighted to offer this new capability and product to current and new customers who may need a customized diffusion. The opal diffusers work better than ground glass diffusers because they are white and very uniform. We can shape the opal glass, or we can glue it to any of our other glass substrates to achieve the exact amount of diffusion without serious loss of lighting efficiency.” To learn more about the company’s new Opal Diffusers, please call 714-540-0126.
