Profile Summary

Dr. Guo obtained his PhD in Optics from Nankai University (China) in 2007 and thereafter worked as a postdoctor at Carleton University (Canada) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since 2010, he joined the Institute of Photonics Technology, Jinan University (China), as a full professor and the director of the lab of biophotonics.

Over more than 15 year sustained research and true multidisciplinary efforts between photonics, materials, chemistry, energy and healthy groups, Dr. Guo led a team to demonstrate a series of world first concepts / systems and develop several “useful” photonic sensors / instrumentations for energy and health monitoring technologies. Since year 2010, Dr. Guo has overseen and coordinated several multi-million dollar projects in above fields. The technologies developed by him helps the potential generation of more than >$10 million and to create numerous high quality jobs.

Dr. Guo has published more than 200 papers (6 tutorial/invited reviews) in refereed journals including Nature Communications, Light: Science & Applications. He presented over 30 invited talks at international and national conferences, co-edited a Springer Handbook entitled “Handbook of Optical Fibers” and hold 12 issued patents.

Dr. Guo is the Co-Chair of the IEEE I&M Technical Committee fo Photonic Technology in Instrumentation and Measurement, served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE/OSA JOURNAL OF LIGHTWAVE TECHNOLOGY, an Associate Editor for the SCIENCE CHINA Information Sciences, a Senior Member of IEEE and a Senior Member of Optical Society of America. Dr. Guo was a recipient of the 2018 Technical Award of the IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society for outstanding contributions to Energy and Health monitoring technologies.
