Profile Summary

Dr Timmy Floume is research associate of Prof RRA Syms. He currently researches and develops metamaterials applications for MRI coils ( ring/line detectors, parametric amplifiers) and conductivity sensors.

He graduated with a BSc in Physics and Chemistry ('01) form Paristech, an Msc in electrical engineering from the Pierre and Marie Curie University ('01) and obtained his PhD at the Imperial College, for the development of a multimodal optical, thermal and electrical monitoring of RF tissue during electrosurgery.
He previously worked on the development of an optimised front-end electronic of a multiwire Gamma camera (brain imaging), and SAW filters electromagnetic simulation for Thomson Microsconics.

His main interests lies in biomedical instrumentation with a focus on metamaterial, broadband light interaction with tissue, tissue thermal effects, MRI coil design and sensor/feedback solutions for medecine and surgery.

In his spare time, he investigate the possible applications of light shifting devices in the photovoltaic, agricultural and design fields (www.photofuel.fr).
