Profile Summary

Dr Tatevik Chalyan (07-01-1990) is a postdoctoral researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She works in the biophotonics group of B-PHOT Brussels Photonics. She mainly works in the field of Fluorescence Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, optofluidic design and validation.
She obtained her Master’s degree in Physics from the Yerevan State University, Armenia in 2012 and the degree of European Doctorate in Physics from the University of Trento, Italy in July 2018. Within the European Project SYMPHONY (Integrated SYsteM based on PHOtonic Microresonators and Microfluidic Components for rapid detectioN of toxins in milk and dairY products), she focused on developing an optical biosensor based on Integrated Silicon Photonics for rapid and precise detection of Aflatoxin M1 in milk and dairy products.
Between the Masters and PhD studies, 2011-2014, she worked at LT-PYRKAL cjsc. (Yerevan, Armenia) as a laser engineer. In the list of her duties were the assembly of solid-state Nd:YAG lasers for laser rangefinding system, as well as programming control and system alignment.
Tatevik has spent 3 months of her internship (04.2017-07.2017) in LioniX International B.V. working on the integrated silicon photonics-based biosensors.
Keywords: Optical instrumentation, measurement systems, spectroscopy, microscopy, lab-on-chip, biophotonics, integrated photonics.
Tatevik has authored and co-authored 8 peer-review journal papers and 5 conference proceedings, as well as co-authored 2 chapters in books. She was an editor of 2 conference proceedings. She was an invited speaker at SPIE Photonics Europe 2018 within the conference on Optical Sensing and Detection.
