Profile Summary

I have been working for three years on tailoring and exploting the orbital angular momentum (OAM) of light for applications in microscopy (STED and spiral phase contrast microscopy), telecommunications (OAM-mode division multiplexing in optical fibers and free-space) and high-security holograms for twisted light. In particular, my research deals with the design, optical characterization and test of diffractive optics for OAM-modes generation, tailoring and sorting.
In the past, especially during my master thesis and PhD, I considered in depth the excitation and propagation of surface plasmon polaritons on metallic gratings for sensing applications. I developed an innovative sensing configuration based on polarization-modulated surface plasmon resonance (SPR) for high-resolution, compact and cheap SPR sensors.
