Profile Summary

Brendan received a B.Sc. degree (first-class honors) in Experimental Physics and a Ph.D degree in Astronomical Instrumentation from National University of Ireland Galway in 2004 and 2009, respectively.

After having obtained his Ph.D. degree, he continued in the field of Astronomical Instrumentation as an instrument scientist until 2011. During this time, work focused on the calibration and data processing of photon counting detectors (L3CCD's and APD's) and instrument hardware-software control.

In 2011, he joined Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork, Ireland, as LabVIEW and Test Engineer for the automation of electrical testing of on-wafer devices. While at Tyndall National Institute, he has gained expertise in a range of electrical characterisation techniques. Currently he is working with a team investigating the properties of high-k materials for application in metal-insulator-metal devices.

3rd Level Teaching
Brendan has also been involved with both undergraduate & post graduate teaching both at NUI Galway and Galway-Mayo I.T.
