Robots from Leonardo to the present: a video interview with Mark Rosheim

A fascination with robotics and the history of science led this entrepreneur to uncover a robot designed by DaVinci.

Mark Rosheim is founder and president of Ross-Hime Designs, Inc., a Minneapolis, Minnesota-based mechanical design company. He is the author of three books on robotics, most recently Leonardo's Lost Robots (Springer, 2006).

He was interviewed for SPIE Newsroom at the SPIE Defense and Security Symposium by Kevin Probasco and Beth Kelley.

Ross-Hime Designs has won seven Phase I Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and six Phase II SBIR contracts for mechanical motion technology invented by Mr. Rosheim. His wrist design, the "Omni-Wrist," has been commercialized for spray finishing and sealant application.

Rosheim attended the University of Minnesota, studying mechanical engineering. He has been employed by Honeywell and Unisys corporation research departments.
