Good Optics: Fellow Societies Celebrate SEDOPTICA’s 50th Anniversary

Maryellen Giger with Ignacio Moreno, President SEDOPTICAOn 6 July, in Castellon, Spain, SPIE President Maryellen Giger participated in a special event marking the 50th anniversary of the Spanish Society of Optics (SEDOPTICA), alongside representatives from fellow organizations The Optical Society (OSA), the International Commission for Optics (ICO), the European Optical Society (EOS), Iberoamerican Meeting on Optics (RIAO), the Portuguese Society of Optics and Photonics (SPOF) and the Spanish Society of Physics (RSEF). Giger was also on hand that day to present three student prizes sponsored by SPIE.


"It is a pleasure to be here in beautiful Castellon to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sociedad Espanola de Optica," said Giger, presenting SEDOPTICA President Ignacio Moreno with a plaque honoring the occasion. "On behalf of SPIE I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the strong partnership between our two societies. We look forward to many more years collaborating with you to promote optics and photonics research and education, and to serving members of the international optical science and engineering community."
